Guidelines That Build Responsibility

A well-established institution is built upon clearly defined rules, discipline, and shared values. At The Heritage School, these guidelines are designed to maintain a respectful, disciplined, and enriching learning environment for every student. The following rules are to be observed at all times.

Personal Grooming

Simplicity, neatness, and smart presentation are an essential part of our school culture. Students are expected to maintain the following standards:

Every student must come to school neatly dressed in the prescribed school uniform.
Boys must keep their hair short, while girls with long hair must tie it neatly.
Black shoes (boots are not permitted) form part of the school uniform and must be polished regularly. White shoes must be worn for P.T. and Games.
Jewellery is not permitted in school. Girls may wear simple and small ear-rings.
Nails must always be clean and trimmed short.

Regularity & Punctuality

Being punctual reflects discipline and readiness to learn. Students are expected to follow the attendance norms given below:

Students must be On Time and Ready to Learn. All pupils must be present in school before 8:45 A.M. during winter and before 8:00 A.M. during summer.
Pupils who are habitually late may be sent home.
Parents are requested to plan holidays, excursions, and medical appointments in a manner that does not affect school attendance.
Leave of absence will be granted only on a prior written application and only for genuine and serious reasons.
In case of absence without prior leave, the reason must be explained in writing and entered in the School Diary. The application must be signed by the parent and approved by the Principal before the child is allowed to attend class.
Students suffering from infectious diseases such as measles, chicken pox, mumps, etc., will not be permitted to attend school until the recommended quarantine period is complete. An authorized M.B.B.S. doctor’s certificate must be submitted confirming that the child is free from infection.
Attendance on National Days is compulsory.
Homework assigned must be completed regularly.
A minimum of 90% attendance is mandatory for promotion.

Leave Rules

Parents are requested to apply for leave only under unavoidable circumstances.

Children already receive scheduled vacations and holidays throughout the academic year. Parents are requested to plan social and personal commitments keeping their child’s academic progress in mind.
All leave applications must be submitted in writing at least three days in advance, except in unforeseen circumstances, in which case the application must be submitted on the day the student returns to school. Failure to comply will be treated seriously.
Leave on medical grounds exceeding two days must be supported by a certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
Absence from examinations or tests will result in failure unless caused by serious illness, supported by a medical certificate from a Government Medical Officer.
Absence without approved leave for five days or more will automatically result in the student’s name being removed from the school rolls. Re-admission, if granted, will be treated as a fresh admission.
Half-day or partial leave is not permitted.
Leave applications may be submitted only by parents and must clearly mention the student’s name, class, date, and parent’s name.

Parents are requested to avoid inconvenience and disappointment by not requesting leave that does not comply with school policy.

Courtesy & Conduct

Courtesy, kindness, and respect are hallmarks of every Heritagian.

Students must remember that their conduct within and outside school reflects the values taught at home and in school. Students must greet teachers, elders, and friends respectfully whenever they meet them.
In all communication, students must use language that reflects dignity, respect, and grace. Loud, inappropriate, or common expressions must be avoided. Interrupting others while they are speaking is not acceptable.
Students are not permitted to wear the School Uniform or School Blazer at any outside function unless accompanied by a teacher and officially representing the school.
Students must uphold the School Motto and consider it a privilege to be of service at all times.

School Property

Respect for school property is an important responsibility.

Any damage caused to school property must be compensated by the student responsible.
Students must take proper care of their personal belongings. The school authorities do not accept responsibility for lost watches, money, books, or bicycles left unlocked on school premises.

Training in Games & Sports

Games and sports form an integral part of healthy learning and character development. Participation helps children develop teamwork, endurance, decision-making skills, confidence, and respect for fair play.

The school provides excellent sports facilities where trained coaches from APTC and the National Institute of Sports (N.I.S.) guide students in various sporting activities.

Students are expected to follow the guidelines below:

Games and P.T. classes are compulsory for all students as they form an essential part of the curriculum.
Exemption from Games or P.T. will only be granted upon submission of a valid doctor’s medical certificate.
Students exempted from Games or P.T. must remain with their class on the sports field during the designated period.
Parents are requested to cooperate with the school and encourage active participation in all sporting activities for balanced growth and development.

Library Rules

Silence and a focused learning environment must be maintained in the library at all times.

Books are issued only against a Library Card. The Librarian reserves the right to withhold the issue of certain books when necessary.
Books may be retained for seven days. In case of high demand, a book may be issued for a shorter duration.
A fine of Rs. 5/- per book, per day, including Sundays and holidays, will be charged for books returned after the due date.
Any damage, misuse, or tampering with library books will result in strict disciplinary action.

Books & Stationery

Students must use only the stationery and textbooks prescribed by the school. Non-approved stationery will not be permitted.
Textbooks must be purchased from the designated bookshop to ensure the correct editions and prescribed materials are supplied. Stationery must be purchased from the school stationer. Only school-approved stationery is permitted.
