REDUCE YOUR SCREEN TIME!

“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

Digital addiction, particularly among students, poses a significant threat to neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt and learn. Excessive screen time and constant digital engagement can weaken cognitive flexibility, impair memory, and diminish attention spans. This stagnation of mental growth hinders creativity and problem-solving skills, crucial in today’s fast-changing world.

Excessive screen time, especially from activities like gaming or social media, can reduce neuroplasticity by overstimulating the brain’s reward centers, leading to impaired attention and memory. For example, children heavily engaged in screen activities may struggle with problem-solving and creativity, as their brains adapt to constant, superficial stimulation.

The way out lies in fostering digital discipline, promoting offline activities, and emphasizing balanced tech use.

Encouraging students to engage in activities that stimulate critical thinking, such as reading, physical exercise, and mindfulness practices like yoga, can help restore neuroplasticity and rekindle a love for learning beyond screens. A balanced digital life leads to a sharper, more adaptable mind.
