When I first started studying Sanskrit at The Heritage School North Campus, I thought it was an outdated language. But learning its scientific grammar and chanting shlokas changed my perspective.
Sanskrit’s structure is logical and systematic, almost like solving a puzzle, and chanting brings calm and focus to the mind. The rhythmic sounds of shlokas have been shown to open neural pathways, engaging both the left brain for analysis and the right for melody.
I now understand why Sanskrit is valued not just as a language but as a mental discipline.
This experience has taught me that no knowledge is ever “obsolete” – it always has something to offer.
Shloka:
“सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः, सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु, मा कश्चिद् दुःखभाग् भवेत्॥”
Translation: May all be happy, may all be free from illness, may all see goodness, and may none suffer.
